Ukraine's 422nd Unmanned Systems Regiment is flying Zozulia "middle-strike" drones against
Russian logistics deep in occupied southern Ukraine, according to a report published September 24,
2026. Built by Warbirds of Ukraine, the Zozulia can reach roughly 1,100 kilometers in its deployed
strike role with a 10-to-50-kilogram warhead, piloted remotely over satellite internet by crews based anywhere in the country. One recent mission targeted an electrical substation in occupied
Zaporizhzhia Oblast used to power Russian radars, drone batteries, and jamming equipment. Of four
Zozulia drones launched on one mission described in the report, two were intercepted by Russian air
defenses while two reached their target, showing the ongoing contest between Ukraine's expanding strike fleet and Russian coun
termeasures.
