How to clean carbon - encrusted stove grates
Baking soda
White vinegar or lemon juice
Hot water
An abrasive sponge or steel wool (if very encrusted)
(Optional) ammonia or a strong degreaser
PROCEDURE
Remove the rack and place it in a large container or baking dish.
Make a paste with baking soda and a little water (or vinegar).
Spread the paste on the grill and let it sit for at least 1–2 hours.
For stubborn stains, you can wrap the grill in a large bag with a small cup of ammonia and leave it closed overnight (be careful: do this in a well-ventilated area!).
Scrub well with a sponge or scouring pad.
Rinse and dry: your grill will be clean and shiny again.
