At 10am on Wednesday, Thune got unanimous consent (meaning not one senator objected) for the Senate to go on a19 day break (returning July 13th)

Under Senate rules, unanimous consent requires no objections from any senator present.
Even one objection blocks it and forces a formal vote or further negotiation.
However , not one senator objected at that moment — including Mike Lee if he was present.
But before Thune adjourned for 19 days, he made sure to set up pro-forma sessions - meaning he's still making sure to block President Trump from making any recess appointments while he goes on a 19 day paid vacation.
Lee saying that the Senate keeps adjourning while major priorities, including the SAVE Act are still not incomplete despite Republican control of the House, Senate, and White House,
"Why are we taking a recess right now?! Why on EARTH is the Senate wanting to recess for two WEEKS?"
"Now, I get it. America's 250th birthday is coming up. That's great. It's all the more reason why we should finish our work. It's all the more reason why we should finish, do everything we possibly can to pass the SAVE America Act instead of recessing for two weeks."
"Only come back and work for a few weeks and then recess for another five or six weeks after that!"
"Why? Why even bother to spend all this time and all this effort campaigning and running for office if when we get here we're constantly taking a recess!"
"A recess at a moment when the Republican Party controls the House and the Senate and the White House. Why? Why do we do this?!"
"There's got to be a better way, a way that doesn't constantly involve saying, oh wait, we've got to take a recess, we've got to leave."
"The American people deserve better than this. They deserve to have free and fair elections and we've got to fix it."
