A five-month-old bar-tailed godwit has completed one of the most astonishing migrations ever recorded. 
The young shorebird flew an incredible 8,425 miles (13,558 km) nonstop from Alaska to Australia, without landing once for food, water, or rest. Using a tiny satellite tracker, scientists followed the bird’s epic journey across the Pacific, showcasing one of the longest nonstop flights in the animal kingdom.
