 Critics argued she was using her father’s position for personal gain and that the Trump family was benefiting financially from the White House.

Supporters point to a different side of the story. Ivanka Trump served as Senior Advisor to the President for four years and chose not to accept a government salary. Not a reduced paycheck. Not one dollar. She also stepped away from her fashion and lifestyle business while serving in government, saying she wanted to avoid potential conflicts of interest.

Here’s what many people highlight about that decision. In 2017, after Donald Trump became President, Ivanka faced a major choice: remain in New York leading her successful fashion and lifestyle brand or move to Washington to serve in the White House. Her brand included clothing, jewelry, shoes, accessories, fragrances, and books, making it one of the most recognizable celebrity business brands of the time.

Rather than continue managing those businesses, she closed the company and stepped away from business operations while serving in government. Supporters say she followed ethics guidelines by separating herself from her business interests before taking on her White House role.

They also note that Senior Advisors are generally eligible to receive a government salary, yet Ivanka chose not to accept one during her four years in office. Throughout that time, she attended meetings, traveled on official assignments, participated in policy initiatives, and represented the administration without receiving a government paycheck.

Because of that, many supporters argue her decision reflected financial sacrifice rather than personal profit. They believe this perspective received far less attention than criticism surrounding her White House role.
