Ingredients:
For the Scotch Eggs:
- 6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
- 500 g ground beef (or sausage meat)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 spring onions, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp mixed herbs
- 1 egg (beaten, for binding)
For the Coating:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 beaten eggs
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
For Frying:
- Vegetable oil (enough for deep frying)
Instructions:
- Boil the eggs for 9–10 minutes, cool in ice water, and peel.
- In a bowl, combine the ground meat, onion, spring onions, garlic, paprika, herbs, salt, pepper, and one beaten egg.
- Divide the meat mixture into six equal portions.
- Flatten each portion and wrap it evenly around a boiled egg, sealing all sides.
- Roll each meat-covered egg in flour, dip into beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil to 170–175°C (340–350°F).
- Fry for 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked.
- Drain on paper towels and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve hot with ketchup, chili sauce, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.
