Elon Musk's fortune has taken a massive hit in just a few weeks.
After briefly becoming the world's first trillionaire, Musk has reportedly seen his net worth fall by more than $600 billion, dropping from around $1.45 trillion in mid-June to below $800 billion.
The biggest reason is the sharp decline in SpaceX shares. Following a record-breaking IPO that sent the stock above $225, the price has since fallen nearly 40%, sliding back toward its listing price of about $135.
Since Musk owns roughly 42% of the company, even small changes in SpaceX's stock price have an enormous impact on his personal wealth. The latest setback came after a Starship launch was aborted, adding further pressure to the stock and reducing his fortune even more.
While the numbers are extraordinary, the story also highlights how closely Musk's wealth is tied to the performance of SpaceX and the success of its ambitious space program.
