Homemade Crispy Chocolate Wafer Bars (KitKat-Style)

 



 Ingredients (Makes 10–12 Bars)

For the Wafer Layers:

  • 20 vanilla wafer sheets
  • 1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (or chocolate cream)

For the Chocolate Coating:

  • 500g milk chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable shortening (for a smooth coating)

Optional:

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Crushed hazelnuts or crispy rice for extra crunch

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Wafer Layers

  1. Spread a thin layer of chocolate hazelnut spread over one wafer sheet.
  2. Stack another wafer on top and repeat until you have 4–5 layers.
  3. Press gently and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to firm up.

2. Cut into Bars

  1. Remove the layered wafers from the refrigerator.
  2. Using a sharp knife, cut them into equal-sized bars.

3. Melt the Chocolate

  1. Melt the milk chocolate with the coconut oil using a double boiler or microwave.
  2. Stir until smooth and glossy.

4. Coat the Bars

  1. Dip each wafer bar completely into the melted chocolate.
  2. Lift with a fork, allowing the excess chocolate to drip off.
  3. Place the coated bars on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

5. Chill

  1. Refrigerate the bars for 20–30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
  2. Once firm, they're ready to enjoy!
