Lindsey Graham's cause of death was confirmed as an aortic dissection — a tear in the body's main artery — and yet FBI Director Kash Patel somehow managed to make his tribute worse by adding that "the FBI is assisting local authorities and has made every necessary resource available."
Nobody asked. Graham died of a known cardiovascular condition. But far-right conspiracy theories were already circulating about his recent trip to Ukraine, and Patel's post poured fuel on all of it.
"An idiotic tweet from a complete idiot that will give rocket fuel to the conspiracy theories circulating online." Former Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer didn't hold back. Others called it "genuinely reckless" and "a very odd tweet apparently posted to stoke conspiracy theories for Twitter likes."
