This self-paced course teaches you about preventing and managing plant health problems, plant diseases, common vertebrate and invertebrate pests, insects, abiotic disorders, and integrated pest management.

Through a combination of educational videos, short readings, and knowledge check questions, you will learn how to identify vertebrate and invertebrate pests, insects, diseases, and abiotic disorders. You'll learn how to manage pests with pesticides and integrated pest management. If you are considering obtaining a pesticide application license in Pennsylvania, this course includes an optional section which will tell you what to expect.

There are 12 sections in this course with quizzes, and one optional section that helps you prepare for the Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicators exams. You will need to achieve a score of 80% or better on the 12 section quizzes to pass this course and receive Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) credits and a certificate of completion.

(Note: A successfully completed online course will count as PDA pesticide recertification credits only once in the lifetime of the applicator. It may take 2 to 4 weeks for recertification credits to be reported to and verified by PDA.)

This course also qualifies for 9 Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist (PCH) continuing education units (CEUs). To obtain this credit, complete the course and earn a certificate of completion. Then submit your certificate of completion when you submit your CEUs to the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association.
