🚗⚡ What if your car could create electricity just by driving? Hyundai and Kia are exploring a futuristic idea that turns the air hitting your vehicle into usable power.

 

Hyundai and Kia have filed a patent for a system that places small wind turbines inside a vehicle's front bumper to generate electricity while the car is moving. According to the filing, air entering the bumper would spin compact turbines mounted in the air intake, with the resulting electricity used to power onboard electrical systems and help cool components. The design includes movable air shutters that open or close depending on driving conditions to manage airflow and improve efficiency.

The concept could apply to gasoline, hybrid, or electric vehicles. It is currently only a patented idea, and neither automaker has announced plans for production. Engineers would still need to address challenges such as aerodynamic drag, since pulling energy from moving air can reduce overall efficiency if not carefully designed.
