An RNC fundraising text allegedly written by JD Vance just tried to ask people for money and accidentally admitted they may not have any because groceries are too expensive under Trump.

“If you can’t give right now, don’t. Groceries cost what they cost.”

That was the pitch.

Nothing says “our economic agenda is working” quite like telling your own supporters you understand if they can’t afford to donate because food costs too much.

The message then asked recipients to complete a fundraising survey.

So the basic pitch was:

We know groceries are crushing you.

Anyway, can we have some money?

People immediately started roasting it online.

One commentator wrote, “There’s actually no way they thought this was a good text to send.”

Another called it “generationally low levels of awareness.”

And that is the beauty of this one.

Trump and Republicans have spent months insisting the economy is doing great and downplaying complaints about high prices.

Then JD Vance’s own fundraising operation apparently sent out a message acknowledging that people may be too financially squeezed to hand Republicans any cash.

You could not write a cleaner self-own.
