Could you stay calm if everything changed in just a few seconds? One young pilot faced that exact challenge during a training flight in Argentina and showed remarkable courage.
The flight instructor, 42-year-old Leandro Andrés Bertazzo, and his 22-year-old student, Rosario, were flying a Cessna 150 as part of her advanced flight training. Rosario already held a private pilot's license and was building the flight hours needed for higher certifications.
During the flight, Bertazzo quietly removed his headset, unbuckled his seatbelt, and told Rosario, "You know what you have to do; keep going forward." He then exited the aircraft in a shocking turn of events. Aviation experts later noted that opening the door of a Cessna 150 while flying requires tremendous force because of the strong air pressure.
Despite the emotional moment, Rosario relied on her training. She kept control of the aircraft, contacted air traffic control, followed instructions, and safely landed the plane without damage. She also provided authorities with the location where the instructor had left the aircraft, helping search teams respond quickly.
Later, Bertazzo's family shared that he had been quietly dealing with personal challenges and was receiving psychiatric treatment, something many of his colleagues did not know. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, while many people have praised Rosario's calm actions and professionalism during an incredibly difficult situation.
