Lady in a Fur Coat was a friendly stray cat, but she had been struggling with severe ear infections for a long time.

When she arrived at the Dane County Humane Society in Wisconsin, veterinarians tried to treat her condition. Unfortunately, the infections were so serious that doctors had to remove her outer ear flaps to improve her health and comfort. Lady recovered well, but shelter staff worried that potential adopters might overlook her because she looked different from other cats.

Using her crochet skills, she made a small purple bonnet with a pair of handmade ears and gently placed it on Lady's head. The adorable accessory was meant to draw attention to Lady and show people that she was still the same loving and affectionate cat.

The shelter shared photos of Lady wearing her new crocheted ears on social media, and people quickly fell in love with her story. The pictures spread widely online and brought attention to her adoption listing.

Not long after the photos were posted, Lady was adopted and went to live with her new family. Her story became a heartwarming example of how a small act of kindness and creativity can help change an animal's life.
