Six people assaulted in their own homes in Arcadia; suspect arrested

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Six people were hospitalized following a series of home invasions and attacks in the Town of Arcadia.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office first responded to a report of a disturbance at a home on Hydesville Road on Wednesday, July 1, at around 9:08 p.m. They found that three victims were assaulted and needed medical attention. The suspect fled before deputies could arrive.

During the investigation, deputies were alerted to an assault on Tellier Road. There, they said the same suspect tried forcing his way inside, injuring the victim’s arm in the process.

While investigating the Tellier Road incident, deputies said they discovered the suspect was inside a nearby home with two people whom he also assaulted.

A total of six people were injured in this series of attacks.

The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Jonathan Shearin. He was arrested and charged with five counts of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree robbery, nine counts of second-degree assault, one count of third-degree assault, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Shearin was taken to the Wayne County Jail.

Sheriff Milby commented, “This is one more example of a parolee who was released early and not held completely accountable for his prior criminal convictions, let loose on society to wreak further havoc.”
