This Weekend in ROC: America 250 and more!

 

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Independence Day weekend is almost here!

It isn’t just Fourth of July celebrations all weekend. There are tons of other things to do throughout the Greater Rochester Area!

Independence Day/America 250 Celebrations

Multiple towns and organizations in the Greater Rochester Area will be celebrating the United States of America’s 250th Birthday!

Red Wings

The Rochester Red Wings are at home this weekend facing off against Lehigh Valley! The Friday game begins at 6:05 p.m., the Saturday game begins at 6:45 p.m., and the Sunday game begins at 1:05 p.m.

There will be fireworks on Friday and Saturday, and a bobblehead giveaway on Sunday. The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will also be performing on July 3.

Strong Museum of Play’s Fourth of July Fun

The Strong National Museum of Play will be celebrating the Fourth of July through Sunday!

Kids will be able to make a popsicle magnet and an “everlasting sparkler.” Guests are also encouraged to visit the Playfully Patriotic exhibit.

Friday, July 3

Music on the Marina

Music on the Marina continues at Arrowhead Golf Course & Marina in Spencerport from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Performing tonight at the marina is Dave Marron! The organizers are also serving their Friday Night Menu, which includes baked fish options and a beer-battered fish fry.

Red, White, & Play Fest

Dave & Buster’s in Rochester will be holding Red, White, & Play Fest starting at 10 a.m.

The purchase of a ticket will grant customers unlimited video game play, live music, contests, and a BBQ Banquet.

Saturday, July 4 (Independence Day!)

BBQ Bash

Looking for dinner ideas on the Fourth of July? The annual summer BBQ Bash is back at Hotel Canandaigua from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event is a partnership between Hotel Canandaigua and Nolan’s Catering. Country band 33 Thunder will be performing live music at the event.

  • Greece: Approximately 9:45 p.m. at Town Hall
  • Irondequoit: 9:30 p.m. at Town Hall
  • Ogden: Around dusk at Pineway Ponds Park

Sunday, July 5

Spencerport Music on the Canal

Spencerport’s Music on the Canal series continues on Sunday. As always, it will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Canal Side Gazebo.

Tonight’s performance will be by Timeline Band, who will be performing R&B, soul, pop, and Top 40 songs.

RPO Outdoors in Perinton

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing outdoors at the Perinton Center Park Amphitheater at 6 p.m.

The concert is free for all to attend.

Freedom Day

The Genesee Country Village & Museum will be teaching about the history of freedom from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

David Shakes will be teaching about Black freedom in Western New York and beyond. There will also be tours and speeches teaching about freedom for women and the Haudenosaunee.

ROC Artists Open Market

Roc Artists Open Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Innovation Square and will continue on Sundays.

Artisans, small businesses, food, music, and activities will be at Innovation Square for the market. Vendors may apply by clicking here.

You’ll have many opportunities to visit the market — the final day of the market this year is on October 24.
